Installing new double glazing in your property can have a host of benefits, from reducing energy bills to keeping your home warmer.
Now the consumer watchdog Which? has released research into the advantages of upgrading to double-glazed windows, as well as looking at the top companies and brands in the sector.
According to a survey conducted by the organisation, 36% of people said that their energy bills fell when they’d introduced double glazing at their property.
Which? highlighted figures from the Energy Saving Trust, which show that if you install double glazing in a semi-detached three-bedroom home, you could save between £85 and £110 a year on your heating bill, provided that you opt for A-rated glass.
It also revealed that 45% of the consumers it surveyed cited reduced noise as a benefit of installing double glazing, while 50% claimed that upgrading meant they no longer saw condensation on their windows.
And almost a third (30%) of those questioned felt that fitting double glazing boosted the value of their property.
Given that research conducted by Co-op Insurance last month found that excessive noise is one of the top disputes between neighbours, fitting new double glazing could help make neighbourhoods more harmonious.
A whopping 41% of those surveyed named neighbourly noise as an issue, with one in five Brits said to have had a dispute with a neighbour over noise.
