Everyone has the right to feel safe in their own home, but these days feeling safe has a lot to do with taking the right kind of security steps. It would be lovely if we could all just close our doors at night and not worry about burglaries, but the times we live in dictate that we need to be as prepared as possible. Here are four tips for home security to help you all stay safe.
Door viewers
Have a little lens fitted on the inside of your door so you can peep through and see who’s on the other side without having to open the door. They’re cheap to buy and easy to install so get one today if you haven’t already.
Deadbolts
Installing a deadbolt on your door will really strengthen it against an attack if someone decides to try and put the boot in. You’ll be able to sleep easier at night if you have these on your doors.
Avoid glass panels
Glass panels on your front door may look nice but it makes it a lot easier for burglars to gain access to your property. All they have to do is break the glass and reach in to unlock the door. You could have laminated glass installed instead, which is held together by an adhesive interlayer. This holds the glass in place if someone tries to break it.
Letter plates
Position a letter plate over your letter box so that no one can reach in and pick up your door keys or work the lock from the inside.
