Installing a conservatory can also help with another of the suggestions made by the website – making best use of your garden. Outdoor space is a big selling point for renters and buyers alike.
If the garden at your property is looking a little scrappy, give it some TLC and tidy it up a bit. Even if you don’t have space for a conservatory, adding a patio or decking could make it more appealing and help people to get more use out of it.
From a rental perspective, you may find that it’s more cost effective to convert a house into two flats. There are a number of advantages to doing so, if your property is large enough to host two separate living spaces.
The most obvious benefit is that you’ll get more rent from two flats than you will from a single house. However, it will also give you a little more security, as you’re unlikely to lose both tenants at the same time.

The publication cited figures from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, which indicate that fitting a conservatory could boost the value of a property by between four and five per cent.
One thing worth noting is that the experts recommend spending a bit more to ensure you have a high-quality conservatory. If you skimp and add one that’s not of such a high standard, you could actually reduce the price someone is willing to pay for your property.
