Households Warned Energy Prices On The Rise

It is the time of the year when the weather is getting worse and the temperature is dropping that most households want to crank their heating up.
However, homeowners may think twice before increasing the dial on their thermostat too much as MoneySuperMarket.com has revealed energy prices are continually rising.
It reported that the average cost of the cheapest energy tariffs has soared by seven per cent in two months.
Indeed, the typical cost of the top ten best energy deals was £784 on September 7th, and this had increased to £839 by November 7th.
Energy expert at the price comparison site Stephen Murray said this is the result of energy costs increasing on a wholesale level, which is now affecting the prices customers pay for their heating.
“The speed at which prices are going up is staggering, with a number of suppliers withdrawing their cheapest tariffs since the start of September and this is only going to continue,” he stated.
Mr Murray noted that the difference in prices between the cheapest deals and those offered by the Big Six standard tariffs is decreasing, stating this is likely to lead to a “hike in prices to the millions of customers on these standard variable deals”.
Households who want to limit their energy bills as much as possible could find better means to insulate their homes and stop heat escaping, so they do not have to rely on their central heating as much.
