They say that windows are the eyes to the soul and this little adage could also be used to refer to our homes as well. Beautiful windows instantly make the outside of your house more appealing and it’s a good indication that the inside of the property is beautiful as well – which might well make it easier to sell up and move on when the time comes. But what kind of windows should you consider installing in order to maximise the appeal of your house? Here are just some of the options available to you.
Arched windows
Arches were particularly popular in Roman architecture and they do look stunning when used in windows for contemporary homes. They make your house look more interesting and can be low maintenance, which you’re sure to be glad to hear. Many that you can buy today are fixed shut, so will let in a lot of light but won’t help with ventilation.
Bay windows
These were massively popular during Victorian times and they do have lasting appeal, with many modern homes featuring them as well. If you’ve got a wonderful view from your living room, then a bay window is a great choice since they let a lot of natural light in and you get an expansive view from your house. They’re typically made up of three different windows, with a centre picture window and two smaller angled windows coming off the sides of the middle one. Casement windows
These windows are hinged at the sides and usually split into two different panes, with a hinge at either side of the frame. When you open them, they look a little bit like barn doors so if your home is rustic in style this would work really well. Transom windows
These windows are usually an angled, rectangular or fan-shaped accent window that you would place above or below a door or even another window.
