How The Right Front Door Can Instantly Boost Curb Appeal

Selling a house can be tricky. You love your home and think it’s worth an investment, but you need to prove this to someone who’s never lived there before and you need to make an instant impact, as this will maximise your chances of selling it for the right price. All too often, people forget about the outside of the house and focus on the inside as the main selling point, but a lot of the time buyers make up their mind about a property before they even step foot over the threshold – so concentrating on the exteriors is clearly just as important, if not more so.

So what’s the first thing that people will see as they approach your house? Yes, the garden is a big calling card and if you have a front area outside the property make sure that this is kept tidy, clean and clutter-free, but there’s something else that will either attract or repel a prospective buyer. We’re talking about the front door, of course. This is usually what people will see first and as such, you need it to make a good first impression.

You could go for a uPVC option (which is good for security, so don’t be put off by this if it’s within your price bracket), or you could really up the ante and think about your front door in terms of great interior design instead.

This one on the Homestratosphere website is an absolutely stunning example of how doors, lighting and accent windows can all come together to create something incredibly beautiful and truly welcoming. We’re sure you’d have a hard time saying no to this house, with a front door like this!

We’re also really taken with this chevron-inspired front door and its fiery orange colour, which we found on the Home Designing blog. Its secret has to be its simplicity, which makes a huge impact all on its own – plus it wouldn’t be difficult at all to recreate this look for yourself at home either.

And you can’t really go wrong with a bright red front door, especially if you have a white exterior to your property. The red splashing against the white will be big, bold and beautiful, and really stand out, especially if you finish it off as in this picture with a gold or brass door knocker. Simply stunning!

Having a beautiful front door is a good indication that you care about the rest of your property, so buyers will immediately think the inside of the house has been well cared for… which means they’re far more likely to consider putting in an offer.
