RSPCA Send Out Hot Weather Conservatory Warning

If you’ve opted for one of the best new conservatories Manchester has to offer, you’ll be perfectly positioned to enjoy the predicted heatwave headed our way. But with good weather hopefully making even more of an appearance over the summer months, the RSPCA has sent out a warning to pet owners who have conservatories in their homes.
The Met Office has predicted temperatures rising to 20 degrees Celsius on Saturday and Sunday, which can be enjoyed by humans and their furry friends alike; however, you should be mindful of certain situations that may arise.
Just like a car left in the sun, a conservatory can quickly heat to 47 degrees Celsius – a temperature which could result in death for dogs and cats left to endure it, according to an RSPCA spokeswoman quoted in the Gloucester Citizen.
Be sure to know where your pets are before leaving them at home in hot weather, and ensure they have plenty of drinking water and somewhere out of direct sunlight they can lay to avoid overheating. Keeping a window open to help air circulation and keep the room cooler is a good idea too.
Last year, there were many public stories about dogs left in hot cars with the general public smashing the windows to free dogs before police arrived. However, this can easily be classed as criminal damage, so the RSPCA always recommends calling 999 first – whether that be for a car or for a dog locked in a conservatory – to avoid potential trouble.
