The London Economic has highlighted a number of projects that can boost the value of a house, from replacing the bathroom to adding a conservatory.

In fact, the publication states that conservatories are “more than worth their price in garden space”, noting that not only do they increase the usable space within your home, but that they also add to its value. This applies to rental properties too, as tenants will often be prepared to pay a bit more for the extra room they provide.

Adding a conservatory to your home could therefore be beneficial whether you’re planning to move, rent your home, or even if you’re staying put and just want a bit more space.

Other suggestions to improve the value of your property include replacing the bathroom and refreshing tired, old carpets. One option is to get rid of the carpets altogether in favour of a wood floor, which is easier to keep in good condition. You can add a rug if you miss having something soft underfoot.

Carrying out home improvements isn’t just a good idea for those who are planning to move though. Research conducted by Lloyds Bank recently revealed that a growing number of second-time sellers are choosing to improve rather than move, because they believe it’s got more difficult to sell property.
