Care Home Conservatories Given A Makeover

A number of care homes in Plymouth have benefited from council funding allowing them to improve the facilities they offer residents.

The Plymouth Herald revealed that the council had provided £150,000 of funding to help local care homes carry out refurbishment and maintenance work, making the lives of their residents better.

In total, 18 care homes received funding, with some of them using their money to spruce up their conservatories and outdoor spaces for residents.

The news may inspire care homes with conservatories in Cheshire to look at ways of improving the space for their residents too.

Consort House Nursing Home, for instance, was able to install an anti-glare film on its conservatory windows, allowing residents to enjoy the space even on the hottest of days, as the anti-glare film helps keep temperatures lower in the summer.

The care home also purchased new conservatory furniture to make it a more comfortable place to relax in.

Hartley Park Care Home, meanwhile, chose to improve its outdoor space by establishing raised vegetable beds, and installing a greenhouse and summer house.

Other homes used their funding to install wet rooms, make existing bathrooms wheelchair accessible and refurbish lounge areas.

Councillor Lynda Bowyer, cabinet member for health and adult social care, told the newspaper: “We are delighted with the results of these grants which have made a huge difference to some of the care homes in Plymouth.”
